Performance Mastery

Course Description

This course is for persons who have fully developed the foundational elements of singing (breathing, diction, vowel application, accurate pitch delivery, tone production). Focus will be on repertoire development, genre characteristic + performance (Jazz and Musical theatre) and application and performance development through drama and movement as well as basic technical training in sound (microphone technique and sound check protocol). Emphasis will be on individual group work and basic harmony.

On the course students will cover:

  • ​Characteristics of musical theatre

  • Elements of Drama (character)

  • Dance

  • Vocal exercises (KCM level 4)

  • Breath support

  • Harmony

  • Characteristics of Jazz

  • Repertoire Development

  • Preparations for LCM exam recital live performance

Activities

  • All students are given the opportunity to gain practical experience at a number of our events.

  • Students can also audition for our grand end of term production.

  • Free workshops

  • At this stage students can choose to do 2 programs for a reduced fee. They can choose from Drama or Music Theory

Gain an international certificate with the London College of Music through Vocal Exams!

Course length: 1 year

Criteria: Vocal awareness, Vowels, Breathing, Vocal warm up techniques, Performance techniques, Ability to sing 4 contrasting songs of varying tempos/ genres back to back, Mic techniques, Must have a written reference from a vocal tutor, Basic/intermediate knowledge of music theory (sing major and minor scales, Knowledge and understanding c, g, f major, a, e, & d (minor scales), Movement up and down an octave, Should be able to repeat a melodic phrase & recognize cords, Ability to keep time, Aural awareness, Sight singing, Song performance.
