NEIL NEWTON
SOUND TUTOR
Neil Newton was blessed to be born and raised on the beautiful island of Barbados and discovered a love for music at a very early age. By nine years old he had begun to learn to play the guitar, following in his older brother’s footsteps. He learned from watching and imitating musicians at his church who played primarily folk and Caribbean styles during
worship. By age thirteen Neil had fallen in love with the bass guitar and started to teach himself how to play. After completing the Barbados Community College’s Associate Degree Music programme in 2002, followed by the BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology programme at the Leeds College of Music in 2004, Neil developed not only into an accomplished and versatile musician, but also a skilled sound engineer (live and studio) and producer, eventually working out of Canefield Studio in Barbados. He has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from musical theatre to international music festivals.
Neil attributes his development to the instruction, guidance and encouragement he received, and still receives, from other artists, engineers and the support of family and close friends.
